Welcome
to ONDL
Organic Nano Device Laboratory (ONDL) is a multi-disciplinary research group that researches the physics, chemistry and processing of plastic electronic devices to create innovations that lead to better functionality, performance and efficiency of plastic electronic devices. We focus on discovering and understanding fundamental phenomena for both scientific and technological breakthroughs. Our techniques are primarily experimental, although we also use theoretical and computational approaches to understand the results. We actively seek public sector funding for basic science research and industry funding for translational research.
Plastic electronics involves the use of solution-processable plastic materials (π-conjugated organic polymers, oligomers, nanoparticles, functionalised graphenes, etc) as the conductor or semiconductor material in devices.
The devices studied in our group include light-emitting diodes for displays and lighting, field-effect transistors for flexible circuits, photodiodes for light detection, thin-film solar cells for light harvesting and thermoelectric generator for power generation. These plastic electronic devices are not only interesting for traditional applications but also attractive for niche applications such as large area displays and lighting and indoor solar film, and for IoT. |
