Customer-built multi-chamber UHV system with Omicron VT-STM, XPS, LEED and MBE growth chamber

This UHV system is equipped with in-situ Omicron variable-temperature scanning tunnelling microscopy (VT-STM, 100K-1000K), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and low-energy electron diffraction (LEED). The analysis chamber is connected with home-made molecular-beam-epitaxy (MBE) chamber mounted with the Oxford Applied Research Atom/ Radical Beam Source HD25 and various deposition sources such as k-cells and e-beam evaporators. The most interesting research opportunities that can be done in this system are as following:

Investigation of surface reconstructions, superstructures and nanotemplates.
Epitaxial single crystalline graphene films thermally grown on SiC substrates.
Growth of metal, semiconductor and organic nanostructures on surface nanotemplates.
Nucleation study of growth of thin film materials.
