This UHV system is equipped with in-situ Omicron variable-temperature scanning tunnelling microscopy (VT-STM, 100K-1000K), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and low-energy electron diffraction (LEED). The analysis chamber is connected with home-made molecular-beam-epitaxy (MBE) chamber mounted with the Oxford Applied Research Atom/ Radical Beam Source HD25 and various deposition sources such as k-cells and e-beam evaporators. The most interesting research opportunities that can be done in this system are as following: |
Investigation of surface reconstructions, superstructures and nanotemplates. |
Epitaxial single crystalline graphene films thermally grown on SiC substrates. |
Growth of metal, semiconductor and organic nanostructures on surface nanotemplates. |
Nucleation study of growth of thin film materials. |
