Undergraduate
We always welcome enthusiastic and curious students to join our group and experience the cutting edge research activities. For NUS students, the research opportunities are available through UROPS and Final Year Project (see Physics and Chemistry department website for details). Students are encouraged to contact Prof. Eda to discuss UROPS and Honours projects.
Internship
We are delighted to host student visitors who are funded through internship and exchange programs. We also welcome CSC scholarship holders from China to spend one year of their PhD with us.
Ph.D positions
Candidates are encouraged to apply for Schlarships offered by NUS and A*STAR (visit the links on the right). Enthusiastic, bright and self-motivated individuals who are interested in our research are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility
PhD candidates are expected to hold a good undergraduate or Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines. Details of the admission requirements by the NUS Faculty of Science can be found here. All candidates should be able to work in a team, have good oral and written communication skills. Desired qualifications include experience with nano-fabrication, semiconductor physics, electronic and vibrational spectroscopy, confocal microscopy, near-field optics, low temperature magneto-transport, and opto-electronic devices (e.g. photovoltaic and light emitting devices). Most importantly, we are looking for students with passion for science and technology!
Projects
Our research aims to explore both fundamental and applied science of two-dimensional crystals such as graphene and transition metal dichalcogenide nanosheets (e.g. MoS2, NbSe2) with a view to exploiting their unique properties for advanced device and energy applications. Positions are available on projects focusing on: (i) growth/synthesis/processing; (ii) electrical charge transport; (iii) optical spectroscopy; or (iv) electronic/optoelectronic devices.
Postdoctoral Research Fellows
Candidates are encouraged to contact Prof. Eda to find out the availability of the position and to discuss the details of the project. Candidates may also apply to prestigious Lee Kuan Yew postdoctoral fellowships.
