1. What is the camp about?

This camp aims to expose students to the beauty and importance of physics in a semi-formal setting. We hope to let students understand that physics is not only an extremely interesting field of study that sometimes involves esoteric phenomena, but also one that is especially relevant in various aspects of our daily lives. We further seek to break the common misconception that physics is a difficult subject, and demonstrate that it can in fact be fun to learn.


2. What can the students expect to learn?

Key concepts and ideas in physics. However, it will be a totally different learning experience via hands-on activities, interacting with our demonstrators, and understanding how quantitative experiments are being designed and carried out in the laboratories. Students will also be exposed to some of the research areas and problems within physics.


3. Do the students need to prepare anything?

No, the students need not read up or prepare beforehand. However, students are encouraged to come with an open mind and positive learning attitude in order to gain the most out of the camp.


4. How long is the camp?

The camp is a two-days long event for both the junior college and secondary-level categories. Students are strongly encouraged to be present throughout both days of the enrichment camp.


5. What is the fee for each participant?

The registration fee for the camp is $37.50 inclusive of GST (lunch and refreshments will be provided).


6. What are the payment methods?

Payment will be done through invoice only. Invoices will be mailed out to the respective schools after the camp.


7. What type of attire must the students be in?

The students should be properly attired in their school uniform.


8. Is it necessary for teachers to attend the enrichment camp as well?

No, teachers are not required to accompany their students throughout the camp. However, we strongly encourage teachers to do so, as we hope to foster stronger bonds between the teachers and the students, and create a shared experience that teachers can draw upon to further motivate and inspire their students. There will be no fee levied for accompanying teachers.


9. Where do the students have to report?

The updated venue for registration is at LT32 for secondary school students and LT31 for JC students. Please use the map below as a guide.


For secondary school students

1. From Kent Ridge MRT station, use Exit A to go to Bus Stop 3.
2. Board shuttle bus A1, C or D2 and alight at the University Hall stop (2 stops).
3. Continue along Lower Kent Ridge Road till you reach Science Drive 4.
4. Turn left and continue along Science Drive 4. At the end of the road, there will be a staircase which will bring you up to LT32.

For JC students

1. From Kent Ridge MRT station, use Exit A to go to Bus Stop 3.
2. Board shuttle bus A1, C or D2 and alight at the LT27 stop (1 stop).
3. Upon alighting, it will be a short walk to the S16 building.
4. From S16, proceed to level 3. Once you exit the lift, you will be right outside LT31.
