38th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Isfahan, Iran, 13-22 July 2007 The 38th International Physics Olympiad was held in Isfahan, Iran. Five Singaporean students achieved outstanding results, clinching a total of two Golds, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals, bringing Singapore to an unofficial 9th placing out of 73 participating counctires. The team was led by A.P. Kwek LC of NIE/NTU.
37th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Singapore, 8-17 July 2006 The 37th International Physics Olympiad saw a total of more than 85 countries participating in this annual prestigious international event held for the first time in Singapore. Hosted in the beautiful campus of the National Institute of Education (NIE) amidst the verdant greenery of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) located in western Singapore, Singapore was proud to play host to more than 600 delegates hailing from numerous countries all around the globe. Associate Professor Paul Lee from NIE and Dr. Roland Su from the National University of Singapore (NUS) led the Singapore team to yet another successful medal tally.
36th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Salamanca, 3-12 July 2005 The 36th International Physics Olympiad was held in Salamanca, Spain. Five Singaporean students achieved outstanding results, hauling in a total of three Gold and 2 Bronze medals, bringing Singapore to a 5th placing out of 74 participating counctires; the best performance in 17 years at the IPhO. The team was led by Dr. Rawat Rajdeep Singh from NIE and Ms Fabiola Lip from ACJC.
35th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Pohang, 16-22 July 2004 The 35th International Physics Olympiad was held in Pohang, South Korea. The opening ceremony was held on 16 July 2004 and graced by the President Moo-hyun Roh of South Korea. The closing ceremony was held on 22 July 04. The competition involved 73 participating countries and about 332 competitors. There were a total of 133 accompanying leaders and 70 observers and observers. Each country can send up to 5 competitors and 2 leaders and any number of observers and visitors. The Leaders sent by MOE were Dr Kwek Leong Chuan from NIE/NTU and Mr. Sherwyn Goh from TJC. 34th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Taipei, 3-11 Aug 2003 The 34th International Physics Olympiad was held in Taipei, Taiwan. The opening ceremony was held on 3 Aug 03 and graced by the President Chen Shui-bian of Taiwan. The closing ceremony was held on 11 Aug 03. The competition involved 54 participating countries and 239 competitors. There were a total of 143 accompanying leaders, visitors and observers. Each country can send up to 5 competitors and 2 leaders and any number of observers and visitors. The Leaders sent by MOE were Asst. Prof. Kwek Leong Chuan from NIE/NTU and Mr. Terence Chew from TJC.
33rd International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Bali, Indonesia, 23-30 July 2002 The Singapore Team led by Asst. Prof. Kwek Leong Chuan from NIE/NTU and co-leader, Dr. Roland Su from NUS won 2 Golds, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze and 1 Honorable Mention. Based on the medal tally, Singapore is ranked tenth. 32nd International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Antalya, Turkey, 28 Jun 2001 Singapore 's delegation was led by Asst. Prof. Lim Hock Siah (NUS) and Mr. Goh Wee Sen from VJC. The observer, sent by the IPS was Asst. Prof. Kwek Leong Chuan from NIE/NTU. 30th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Padua, 18-27 July 1999 The event was held on 18-27 July 1999 in Padua, Italy. The Singapore team did exceptionally well winning one Gold medal (He Ruimin), one Silver medal (Chen Zilong), and two Bronze medals (Seo Jiahan Eugene & Yeo Wenzheng). In terms of medals won, Singapore was placed 13th out of 62 participating countries. The team was led by Dr Ivica Orlic. |
